Beast Brawlers is a top-down arena brawler where players control various beasts in timed deathmatches, taking advantage of each beast's specific skillset to gain the upper hand on their opponents.
My main role on this project was designing characters with clearly defined archetypes and unique abilities, as well as tuning the game economy to pace players appropriately and aid longer-term retention.
Developing in Unity was the most effective way for our team to rapidly iterate on new designs and build to Mobile devices. Once the core designs were implemented, we playtested on a daily basis to get feedback on where the design was lacking. Economy balancing was primarily done in Google spreadsheets, and all core design modules were logged in our GDD.
